Erbium Skin Resurfacing
for the younger you? Feel good in your skin again with Erbium laser treatments. These pick me up treatments are a quick and easy way to get your youthful glow back without the downtime associated with other forms of skin rejuvenation. They are perfect treatments for working professionals, or busy people on-the-go.
How does it work?
Erbium laser technology corrects many dermatological and cosmetic skin conditions with increased comfort and minimal post-treatment pain and care. Erbium laser treatments create micro-thermal tunnels deep into the skin. The laser ablates (or vaporizes) the microscopic columns of skin while leaving the surrounding tissue untreated. The body’s natural healing process creates new, healthy collagen to replace the columns of affected tissue. Once healed, skin texture improves and lines soften. The results are gradual and people can continue to see improvements in their skin for three months after their last Erbium laser treatment.
The laser targets the deep and superficial layers of the skin to remove acne scarring, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, rough texture, redness and large pores without excessive peeling with often resulted from chemical peels.

The Skin Resurfacing Worked!!!
Update: Day 7 of Leslye’s skin resurfacing from Elase Med Spa in Lake Mary Florida, and while it was a rough week, the result s are fantastic. The age spots and sun damage have given way to fresh smooth skin and in a few months new collagen growth will give way to a more youthful look.
What is the difference between the Erbium and the “Fraxel” laser?
Both lasers use the fractional technology. However, the Fraxel 1550 laser is a non-ablative laser and uses a shorter wavelength of penetration into the skin (1550 nanometers). Research has shown that ablative lasers, such as the Naturalase Fractional Erbium 2940, produce better cosmetic results.
What should I expect after my fractional laser treatment?
Immediately following the treatment, the skin will be red, swollen and patients will experience a warm, stinging sensation. Some patients may also experience pin-point areas of bleeding. These effects are normal and indicate a successful treatment. Any swelling and redness will dissipate within several days. As the micro-tunnels heal, the skin will feel dry and begin to slough or peel.
What can I expect?
Erbium and fractional treatments are the rage for those wanting to transform their skin without the downtime. Through a series of treatments patients see a difference in the tone, texture, acne scarring, redness, fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and large pores. A package of 3-5 treatments is recommended for optimal results depending on patient expectations spaced every 4-8 weeks apart. Numbing cream is also not necessary for this treatment as Elase offers the Zimmer to cool the skin. Patients usually look sunburned over the next few days with mild flaking. Healing is complete within 5-7 days for deep treatments, or the next couple days for “Lunch Time” treatments.
What areas can be treated?
The laser targets specific areas of concern on the face. Fractional Erbium can be used on specific areas on the face like above my upper lip for “aging or smoker’s lines” or around my eyes for “crow’s feet.” However, many people wish to have the whole face treated to improve overall skin complexion.
How does the Erbium [Er] Laser work?
The high-powered erbium:YAG laser produces energy in a wavelength that gently penetrates the skin, is readily absorbed by water (a major component of tissue cells), and scatters the heat effects of the laser light.
The Er:YAG laser is commonly used for skin resurfacing in patients who have superficial to moderate facial wrinkles, mild surface scars or splotchy skin discolorations. Skin rejuvenation with the Er:YAG laser offers the advantages of reduced redness, decreased side effects and rapid healing compared to some other laser systems.
How do non-ablative lasers work?
Unlike laser resurfacing technologies that heat and remove the top skin tissue, non-ablative or non-wounding lasers actually work beneath the surface skin layer. This novel approach appears to stimulate collagen growth and tighten underlying skin to improve skin tone and remove fine lines and mild to moderate skin damage. It offers the patient the benefits of few side effects and rapid healing with virtually little “downtime.” Elase offers both ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing, as well as fractional treatments to insure you get the best of both worlds, collagen repair while improving the overall skin tone and texture with CO2 skin resurfacing.
