All of these things are caused by one thing…hair!

FAQ’s

How does laser hair removal work?

The Laser emits light, converted into heat that directly targets active growing hair follicles. When the laser emits a light beam, the hair follicle absorbs the laser energy and hair growth is permanently prohibited. It is important to be familiar with the hair growth cycles to understand why more than one treatment is required as treatments cannot be expedited for faster results. Each hair passes though three distinct stages: Active Growth (Anagen), Transition (Catagen) and shedding (Telogen). If the hair is in its active phase, the hair follicle can absorb the laser light and the follicle can be destroyed. Only 20-40% of hair is actively growing at any time. When the hair is in the resting or shedding phases it is not capable of absorbing the laser light and no destruction of the follicle can occur. Therefore multiple treatments are required in order to hit each hair in the active stage.

How much does it cost?

Most of us want laser hair removal but it may be the cost holding us back. Elase has changed all of the rules! What Lasers do we use?

At Elase, we offer the highest level of treatments to insure patient satisfaction. Elase locations offer laser hair removal treatments with the Candela lasers such as the GentleLase, GentleYag as well as Cynosure’s Elite lasers. Elase uses a range of lasers allowing us to customize your treatment for your skin type. Not all lasers advertised for laser hair removal offer permanent results, giving some confusion to the general public. Patients need to be aware that IPL’s are not classified as lasers and while offering some hair reduction, the results are not optimal. Laser Hair Removal at Elase is permanent and guaranteed. Elase is proud to offer laser hair removal with only the highest quality lasers on the market.

How often do I come in for treatments?

Treatments are quick and easy. They can be done in a lunch break. An upper lip takes less than 5 minutes and a full back takes about 30-45 minutes. Patients need to come in from 4-8 weeks apart depending on the area being treated. Basic hair anatomy and manufacture recommendations tell us that this is when hair growth cycles are changing and treatments should be done during this period. In your free consultation, your consultant will go over the best treatment plan to meet your needs.

What can I expect?

There is no downtime with laser hair removal. You are able to resume your daily activities such as work, school or run errands without noticeable evidence of laser treatment. The laser sprays cryogen, a coolant to the skin before the laser heat to insure a more comfortable treatment. At Elase comfort is a priority for our patients. Not only do our lasers omit the patented cryogen, we also offer numbing cream, ice packs or the Zimmer to help make treatments more comfortable. The Zimmer blows ice cold air to allow the skin to cool before the laser pulses. Because treatments are so quick, patients are very satisfied with the level of comfort when compared to other lasers on the market.

Who is not a candidate?

There is not a laser on the market that will eliminate blonde, red, white or grey hair. Elase offers Electrolysis in states where permitted as this treatment is paramount to eliminate these hair colors permanently. Treatments vary depending on how much is being eliminated as well as the cost. Each CME is certified and licensed to perform electrolysis at our Florida locations. Also, certain medications are photosensitive which would allow you to discontinue treatments until notified by an Elase medical professional. Those who tan in the sun or tanning beds as well as using self tanners are not candidates for a few weeks until after use or exposure. In your consultation, an Elase representative can go over the right treatment plan for you.

Are lasers safe?

Elase offers only FDA approved lasers for treatment. These lasers are non-ionizing which means they cannot change or mutate cells. Therefore, they do not cause cancer. Laser hair removal has been studied for decades without any short or long term effects to the tissues or cells of the body as the laser light is absorbed by the hair follicle and the energy disperses. Because Elase offers lasers for all skin types, tanned or darker skin types are treated on lasers specifically designed to protect the pigment in their skin while permanently reducing hair growth. It is important to not receive treatment while on any photosensitive medications as well as wearing SPF daily on the treatment area during your treatment series.

Who does the treatments?

Although each location has a medical doctor to review each patients chart and oversee treatments and protocols, each state varies in laws and regulations on licensure. At Elase, only CME’s or Nurse Practitioners in Florida are allowed to perform laser hair removal treatments. In Utah, Master Estheticians are permitted to treat laser patients. At Elase, we esteem ourselves in the highest level of treatment quality and professional staff. All technicians go through extensive training and supervised practice, prior to performing treatments on our patients.

How many treatments do I need?

Because our hair grows in cycles and not all of these cycles are actively growing all at once, laser hair removal takes more than one treatment. Everyone is anatomically different, one person might require more treatments than another. Even different body parts can require different amount of treatments than other areas. This makes it difficult for anyone to claim exactly how many treatments will be needed until the patient is content with the results. We have calculated an average amount of treatments needed based on the thousands of patients we have treated over the past decade. The average is 6 to 10 treatments. It is important that we see you on a regular basis so that we can make sure to hit your hair right when it becomes active. For instance, we know that the hair on your face grows at a different rate than the hair on your back or legs. For this reason, it is important to stay on a regular schedule for each area of the body.

Electrolysis

At Elase we offer all forms of permanent hair removal to insure the greatest patient satisfaction. In additional to laser hair removal, we offer Electrolysis to manually eliminate the hairs that may be too thin, fine or too light for the laser to see. This process of hair removal is done one hair follicle at a time. Treatments usually last 15-30 minutes and can be done on a lunch break. Because laser does not eliminate blond, red, white or gray hairs, Electrolysis is the only process available to inhibit these hairs follicles from growing. Electrolysis is ideal for light hair color facial hair, but can be done or all hair colors, skin types and all areas of the body or face including the eyebrows. Electrolysis gets rid of the need to pluck, tweeze, or wax your hair, as it is a permanent way to pluck the hairs away forever. Using an electric current, the hair follicle is kills the hair follicle and results are guaranteed. Because Electrolysis is done manually, it can be tedious. The patient is able to see results after each treatment until all that remains is silky, smooth skin. At Elase, we have Certified Medical Electrolysis who are licensed and trained to offer optimal results. Call today for a free consultation.
